Today, our Pirate family took a moment to recharge together as we celebrated Power Up Week with a staff luncheon that did not disappoint!
From a fully loaded baked potato soup to a fresh house salad and warm breadsticks, everything was set up to give our staff the fuel they need as we push forward. But more than the food, it was the energy in the room, the laughter, and the smiles that truly stood out.
This is a critical stretch as we move closer to Spring Break and continue preparing our students for LEAP testing. Moments like this remind us that when we take care of each other, we show up even stronger for our kids.

Today at Kaplan High School, our students experienced the powerful conclusion to last year’s mock crash event as the Sudden Impact Mock Trial took place on our campus.
Students had the opportunity to witness the courtroom side of the story, seeing how one single decision can carry life-altering consequences. The trial served as a continuation of the mock crash that took place at the stadium last year, bringing the reality of those choices into a courtroom setting where students could see how the legal process unfolds.
It was a truly eye-opening experience for our students and a powerful reminder of the responsibility that comes with every decision behind the wheel.
A sincere thank you to Sudden Impact for partnering with Kaplan High School and for continuing to provide experiences that educate, challenge, and protect our students. Together, we are helping our Pirates make smart choices and look out for one another.

Reminder, this Wednesday is a HALF DAY for KHS.
📣 2026–2027 Kaplan High School Pirate Pride Cheer Tryouts 📣
Students interested in trying out for the 2026–2027 KHS Pirate Pride Cheer Squad, it’s time to get ready! 🏴☠️📣
All students planning to try out must pick up a tryout packet by March 18th from the appropriate location:
• Current KHS students: Pick up a packet in Ms. Mia’s office.
• RMS, FIEB, and MMCS 8th grade students: Pick up a packet in the front office at your school.
Students will also need to join the KHS Pirate Pride Cheer Tryouts 2026 Google Classroom using their VPSB student email. The class code is listed on the attached flyer.
⚠️ A mandatory parent meeting will be held before tryouts, and all practices are required in order to try out.

It is officially RED WEEK at Kaplan High School!
So, everyone wants to know, "What is RED WEEK?!"
Red week is a mid-March week we designated to raise the bar and take our campus to the next level when it comes to tackling the ACT (which the students take on Wednesday), and the LEAP STATE EXAMS (which begin in 25 days).
RED WEEK is our school-wide rallying moment, a chance to shake off the mid-year fog and recommit to the mission. It stands for:
R-Reevaluate-Where are our students? What do they need most right now?
E-Energize-Bring fresh energy into your classroom and into your students.
D-Drive-Push through the fatigue and drive toward the finish line.
This week will have many twists and turns, but we are on an UNSTOPPABLE journey right now, and we will not keep our eyes off the prize.

Next week is Red Week at our school, and we're kicking it off with some excitement! Starting Monday, every day will be a celebration as we gear up for the ACT and LEAP tests. On Monday, all students are encouraged to wear something red to set the tone for the week and show our school spirit! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Once again, our students stepped into the Vermilion Parish Government Day held at the courthouse in Abbeville and represented the Pirate family in an outstanding way. Year after year, Kaplan High students rise to the moment at this event, and this year was no exception.
We are proud to celebrate the students who earned these positions through their speeches and leadership:
• Isabel Mendez – District Judge
• Hunter Packard – District Attorney
• Anslee Hebert – School Board Member
• Kadey Duhon – Police Jury
• Lexi Greene – Parish Emergency Officer
• Bryce Mouton – Tax Assessor
Watching our students stand in the courthouse, speak with confidence, and earn the trust of their peers continues a long Kaplan High tradition of excellence at Government Day. Our Pirates have built a reputation for showing up prepared, speaking with conviction, and leaving their mark on this event.
A special thank you goes to Mrs. Tori Broussard, who stepped in this year as the new sponsor and did an incredible job guiding these students. She took the torch and ran with it, and the results speak for themselves.
