Kaplan, it’s time to come together for our Jammin’ Jambalaya Fundraiser on Saturday, November 1st at KHS!
🔥 A big pot of delicious jambalaya cooked by Mr. Dylan Roussel
🍰 A Bake Sale filled with homemade love
🎶And yes, we will be playing some "jammin" music as we bring our community together
This isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s about taking care of our Pirate family. Every plate sold fuels student incentives like CLEP testing opportunities that give our kids a brighter future, and teacher incentives that remind our staff how much we appreciate them.
Our students and teachers give their all every single day, and this is our chance to give back. With your support, we’ll make Kaplan High stronger, prouder, and more UNSTOPPABLE than ever.
👉 Tickets are available now through KHS students, and the public can also order online here:
https://osp.osmsinc.com/VermilionLA/BVModules/ProductTemplates/Bvc2013/Product.aspx?productid=VU013-269
When this community shows up for its kids, there’s nothing we can’t do.
Join us on November 1st for food, fun, and Pirate pride.
Let’s rock this JAMMIN’ JAMBALAYA fundraiser, because like Bob Marley said, 🎶 “We’re jammin’, to think that jammin’ was a thing of the past, we’re jammin’, and we’re jammin’ to make it last!” 🎶

Students teamed up, put their creativity to the test, and delivered some incredible designs under the guidance of our new teacher, Mr. Jonathan Gaspard.
This schedule was voted the top design in the class – and we couldn’t be more proud to share it with you.
Huge shoutout to our talented Pirates for showing off their skills both in the classroom and on the field. Share it around and show your Pirate pride! 🏴

We’re UNSTOPPABLE in our mission to grow every student who walks through our doors, not just academically, but in confidence, accountability, and purpose. Our focus?
✅ Tackling truancy
✅ Leveling up classroom engagement
✅ Pushing every Pirate to grow beyond what they thought possible on the LEAP 2025
This year isn’t about maintaining. It’s about moving. Let’s go, Pirates! ☠️

If so, they could win a brand new Kindle Fire Tablet by the end of the year!
Sign up on the Google Form below! Last day to sign up is this Friday (22nd).

Lily’s passion for agriculture runs generations deep. As a sixth-generation cattle rancher, she raises and shows registered Herefords and Hereford-cross beef cattle, always striving for quality genetics that produce top-quality beef. Her leadership is just as strong. She serves as Class of 2026 President, President of the KHS FFA Chapter, Senior Captain of the Gold Dance Team, and has been a driving force in 4-H, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, and more.
Her achievements have taken her from local barns to national competitions, and she continues to represent Kaplan and Vermilion Parish with pride, work ethic, and heart. This honor is even more special as she shares the Cattle Festival spotlight with her grandfather, Randall Perrin, this year’s King.
Congratulations, Lily, on this incredible recognition. You are proof that Pirates are truly UNSTOPPABLE. 🏴☠️

Pirate Nation, big news!
We are beyond excited to introduce our new Head Football Coach, Mr. John Thompson! Coach Thompson is ready to lead our Pirates with passion, integrity, and a commitment to the winning traditions and high standards that have made Friday night lights in Kaplan something truly special.
In his own words, Coach Thompson shared, "I’m a Vermilion Parish boy, and Kaplan to me is the pinnacle of high school sports in the public school sector and something I always wanted to be a part of."
Let’s give Coach Thompson a warm Pirate welcome as we continue to build on our legacy and charge full speed ahead into a new era.

**All proceeds go to the KHS boys soccer team.

Ms. Erika’s English IV class kicked things off with their first gallery walk, where students engaged in self-reflection to identify their writing strengths and areas for growth.
We love seeing our Pirates actively involved in learning activities that push them to think deeper and aim higher. With Ms. Erika’s theatrical background, English IV just leveled up this year! 🏴

There will be a mandatory meeting for ALL PARENTS of Dual Enrollment students and Career Campus at SLCC students in the cafeteria at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 18th. Please make an effort to attend this brief, yet important meeting with the teachers. Please share!
