In this activity, each hexagon represents an important concept from our civics unit. Students must connect the ideas and — most importantly — explain why the ideas are connected using evidence from class and the text.
This pushes students beyond memorization and into true critical thinking:
✔ making connections between concepts
✔ explaining relationships using academic language
✔ supporting their thinking with evidence
These are the same skills students must demonstrate on the LEAP constructed-response questions, where they are expected to analyze information, explain relationships, and justify their answers with facts.
Activities like this help students become more confident, independent thinkers, and better prepared for success on LEAP and beyond!
So proud of their hard work and growth! Stay tuned tomorrow for when we push them to the next level, when they have to explain the connections their peers made!!

To our students, families, staff, alumni, and community partners, thank you for the support, pride, and commitment you show our school every single day. Your belief in our students and our mission makes a difference.
We are excited for what lies ahead and ready to continue building a school culture that is focused, resilient, and truly UNSTOPPABLE.
Here’s to a year filled with growth, success, and Pirate pride.

This season reminds us that school is more than a building. It is the people who fill it with laughter, grace, patience, and heart. Our students show resilience every day. Our teachers and staff who pour themselves into kids, even when it is hard. Our families and community who stand behind us with pride and unwavering support.
May this Christmas bring you rest, joy, and moments that slow time just enough to remind you what truly matters. Hold your people close, soak in the traditions, and know how grateful we are to walk this journey with you.
We are proud of our Pirates. We are thankful for our Pirate family. And together, we remain UNSTOPPABLE.
Merry Christmas

This project perfectly reflects our schoolwide goal of engagement. Students were thinking, creating, problem-solving, and proudly explaining their work. When learning is active and meaningful, our students rise to the challenge.
Congratulations to our top finishers:
1st Place: Emma’s Pecan Paradise
2nd Place: Braydan’s Fig Factory
3rd Place: Lanie’s Hydroponic Farm and Salad Bar
We are proud of Mrs. Jamie and her students for showing what an unstoppable classroom looks like.
