Happy Valentine's Day from Mrs. AJs 3rd grade class!
Kindergarten is embarking on a new project! They learned about Bisa Butler and her portrait quilts. They are fabric so she makes textile art. Students are practicing adding a body for portraits and coloring with neon crayons like Bisa's bright colors. Next they will make stamp cards and practice printmaking for the background!

Literacy Night is coming to KES. Come join the fun! There will be reading games, popcorn, and a photo booth. Students will get a punch card upon arrival and will be awarded with a free dress day coupon redeemable the next school day, if they participate in activities and fill the punch card. We are looking forward to a fun time reading!

**FEBRUARY PIRATE PERK !**
Students will be allowed to have “Cozy Toes” for 2 Pirate Bucks every Thursday in February. For this incentive, students will be allowed to remove their shoes in class.
The following guidelines must be followed for this event.
--Students will be allowed to remove their shoes in the classroom only. Shoes must be worn to recess, lunch, AMPEL, and restrooms.
--Students must have socks on to participate in Cozy toes. Students will not be allowed to walk around barefoot.
--Students are encouraged to wear fun socks to show off for COZY TOES day!
--Please encourage your child to work hard to earn Pirate Bucks and follow the school rules.

Spring Pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Students are allowed to wear their "Sunday best" for these pictures on Wednesday, February 1st. VPSB dress guidelines must be followed.
