Part 3: Getting Back to School

After the construction of the new roof for the school, it was a hassle for the teachers and staff to get back into their classrooms and get ready to teach. The teachers worked hard before the school started to settle in for classes. We will show you different perspectives of the teachers and staff as we interviewed several people involved with the preparation for the new school year.
One person we talked to about the school's preparation after the roof's construction was Ms. April Petry, a Central Office Technician. From her, we learned this: She and the other technicians had to go to each class to connect both the boards and the projectors to a computer. She was there for 2-3 days before school started. There were hanging wires in some rooms without a purpose that had to be removed. All of the lab computers in the library still do not work as of the writing of this passage, mainly due to a missing wire box. With the library being the main outlier, the same problems were usually present in almost every classroom.
Another person that we talked to about the school's preparation after the roof's construction was Mrs. Bourque, the librarian. She was affected by the construction by her having to move everything that was in the library. Mrs. Bourque and all of the janitors had to move all the books and computers out of the library so none of them would break, but that took a lot of time out of their days, of which they had very little. Another way the construction and removal of the books from the shelves helped Mrs. Bourque is that she could see what books were out outdated like some outdated encyclopedia books. Another way that the construction helped the library is that it stopped the ceiling from leaking and destroying all of the books. Overall, the way that the construction made Mrs. Bourque feel, stress-wise, ten out of ten.
Mrs. Lisa, our head janitor, said after the construction of the roof it was a race to get the school back together before the first day. This is due to there being a lot of furniture where it wasn’t supposed to be. Then after that endeavor, they had to seal off the classroom to get all of the dust from getting in the classrooms. After all the furniture, computers, desks, etc. were moved back into the classroom, the roof was still leaking in some places. Also, the roofs were supposed to be done about two months ago but just finished not that long ago. It was just a time-consuming, stressful, and strenuous process.
The teachers and staff are far less stressed about teaching now that the school is mostly done with construction, though it is still being worked on. Some of the things and pictures we saw and heard were crazy and we didn’t expect many details about the preparation of the school. Much of the staff were working, trying to move stuff, and get everything working on the night before school. Now the teachers, staff, and students are ready for the new school year of Kaplan High.
