2023 Mighty Pirates Football Team

At the end of the first quarter the score was still 0-0. In the second quarter with 3:21 left, #11 Jed Devoltz scores on the run but a missed PAT leaves the score at 6-0 Pirates up. Going into halftime Abbeville scores to make the game 6-6 at half. #6 Bradyn Bearb runs it in for the touchdown and the 2-point conversion to make the score 14-6 , Pirates up once again. Abbeville scores with 3:27 left in the 3rd to make the score 14-12. Touchdown Abbeville to make the score 18-14 with 2:38 left in the game. The final score was 18-14 Abbeville. The Pirates fought a tough game, but ultimately falling short. The Russo Trophy stays at AHS another year.

#15 Daylon Landry scores with 1:27 left in the 1st quarter to make the score 7-0 with a successful PAT from #2 Gannon Smith. SMHS scores with 9:55 left in the first half to try to tie up the game but the PAT is no good so now the score is 7-6 Pirates. #15 Daylon Landry scores another touchdown for the Pirates and he also adds on 2 to make the score 15-6 with 3:36 left in the first half. St. Martinville fumbles and #24 Wyatt Hebert recovers it. Going into halftime the score is 15-6. The Tigers score again but fail the 2pt conversion to make the score 18-15 Tigers with 9:11 left in the 3rd. Another touchdown from #15 Daylon Landry with a successful PAT from #2 Gannon Smith. Tigers score again to make the score 22-24 Tigers lead with 8:09 left in the 3rd. #6 Bradyn Bearb recovered the fumble from the Tigers with 1:17 left in the 3rd quarter. #11 Jed Devoltz with the run up the middle and #2 Gannon Smith with the successful PAT to make the score 29-25 Pirates with 4:29 left in the game. Tigers score to make the score 29-32 with 3:29 left in the game. #15 Daylon Landry for the score and #2 Gannon Smith for the successful PAT To make the score 36-32 Pirates with 0:50 seconds left in the game. #13 Remi Broussard with a fumble recovery with 0:25 seconds left in the game. Kaplan Pirates win 36-32!

The first Pirate score comes from a safety to make the game start at a 7-2 lead for the Bobcats with 5:34 left in the second quarter. Later on with 1:44 left in the second quarter #11 Jed Devoltz scores a touchdown and #15 Daylon Landry scores on the keep for the 2 point conversion to make the score 10-7 Pirates. Pirates get the ball at half with a Bobcat failed two point conversion after a touchdown. #10 Sade David with a Quarterback keep for the touchdown to make the score 16-13 Pirates with 3:02 left in the 3rd quarter. The Pirates with the lead start the 4th quarter with a punt return with a first down at the Bobcats 40 yard line. In the final minutes of the game the Bobcats turnover the ball to the Pirates to end the game for a Pirate victory!

#6 Bradyn Beard runs the ball in for a Pirate touchdown and to make the score 8-0 #90 Carter Petry runs the 2 point conversion with 9 minutes left in the first quarter. Before halftime, #1 Andre Marceaux intercepts the ball and keeps the Pirates in the lead. Halftime score is 8-7 with Pirates on top! A turnover on downs results in a Pirates' ball at their own 46 yard line. #42 Jed Devoltz runs the ball in from the two yard line for a touchdown and #90 Carter Petry again with another successful two point conversion to make the score 18-7. #8 Coy Terro successfully recovered a Pirate onside kick. Pirates fumble and it is recovered by the Gents on the 10 yard line. On the 28 yard line the Gents fumble and the Pirates recover it with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter. #42 Jed Devoltz with another rushing touchdown with a failed two point conversion to extend the Pirates' lead to 22-7 with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Pirates win their first district game 22-13!

With five minutes left in the first quarter #15 Daylon Landry runs the ball in to make the touchdown and two point conversion to make the score 8-0. #24 Wyatt Hebert runs the ball for a touchdown to make the game 14-0 with 10 minutes left in the second quarter. Another hand off to #15 Daylon Landry to bring the score up to 20-0 with 9 minutes left in the third quarter. #10 Sabe David with a 73 yard pass to #1 Andre Marceaux to make the score 26-0 and #2 Gannon Smith with a successful kick to make the lead 27-0 with 1 minute remaining in the third quarter. #6 Bradyn Bearb runs the ball in for a touchdown to make the score 35-0 and #2 Gannon Smith with a successful PAT to make the final score 36-0. Pirates Win!

In the first quarter with 9 minutes left #6 Bradyn Bearb scores the first touchdown of the game to make the score 6-0. #15 Daylon Landry runs up the middle for the next touchdown of the game to make the score 12-0, and Carter Petry with a run for the two point conversion to make the score 14-0. On a pass from LaGrange, #8 Coy Terro picks off the ball. #24 Wyatt Hebert with the third touchdown of the game to make the score 20-0 at 2:29 left in the first quarter.

With 6:33 left in the second quarter, Bradyn Bearb gets his second touchdown of the game to make the score 26-0, and with #2 Gannon Smith’s extra point being successful makes the game 27-0. LaGrange scores late in the 2nd quarter making the score 27-6

LaGrange throws another interception but this time to Senior, #27 Grant Stelly. Quarterback, #10 Sabe David, with the sneak for the touchdown then comes the kicker, Gannon Smith, to make the score 34-6. Sabe David with a pass to #90 Carter Petry for the touchdown, then with Gannon Smith's successful kick brings the score to 41-6 with 6:19 left in the 3rd quarter.

#26 Dane Frick, with his first touchdown of the night, brings the score to 47-6 and freshman kicker, #29 Matthew Breaux, with his first successful kick of the night brings the score to 48-6 with 11:47 remaining in the fourth. Although LaGrange had another successful run late in the 4th, the Pirates end with a victory, 48-12!

Week 2: September 7, 2023

Kaplan Pirates Vs. Berwick Panthers (Home)

Panther's held the lead at the beginning of the 1st quarter.

With three minutes left in the 1st quarter, Berwick 7- Pirates 0; #15, Daylon Landry, for the Pirates scores to make it 6-7! After the touchdown, Jed Devoltz, #11 runs in the 2-pt conversion to make the score Pirates 8- Berwick 7.

Later in the 2nd quarter, with 10 minutes and 54 seconds left, Quarterback, #10 Sabe David, throws a pass to number #15, Daylon Landry, for his second score of the game. Pirates are not up, 13-7. #2 Gannon Smith, the Pirates’ kicker, extends the lead to 14-7 with a good field goal.

With 8 minutes remaining in the second quarter, #10 Sabe David, hands the ball off to #15 Daylon Landry for his 3rd touchdown of the night to make the score Pirates 20- Berwick 13. #90 Carter Petry takes the snap for the two point conversion and runs it in for a successful try making the score 22-13. Berwick has the ball and attempts a pass but #8 Coy Terro intercepts the pass. With the turnover on downs, #6 Bradyn Bearb makes the most of it and scores a touchdown making it 28-13 with 13 seconds in the second quarter.

After the touchdown, #90 Carter Petrey has yet another successful two point conversion to make the score 30-13.

With 10 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, #90 Carter Petry scores a touchdown to make the score 36-13. #15 Daylon Landry makes the run for a successful 2 point conversion making the score 38-13.

With 8 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, the weather delay, due to the constant lightning and rain, stopped the game until 11:00PM. When the game resumed, Panther’s scored a touchdown. Soon another lightning delay was called and the Panthers chose to forfeit the game. The final score 38-19 PIRATES WIN!

NV scored early on leading the Pirates 7-0 until the last seconds of the 1st quarter. #6 Bradyn Bearb scored a touchdown with one second left in the 1st. Patriots held the lead going into the 2nd quarter, 7-6.

NV continues to lead into the 2nd quarter, scoring a touchdown and a good field goal. Leaving the Pirates behind, 14-7. With three minutes left in the 2nd quarter, hand off to #11 Jed Devoltz who runs it in for the TD! The run failed leaving the Pirates two points behind at 14-12 to start halftime.

With an uneventful 3rd quarter and a mostly dull 4th quarter, Pirates score with 10 seconds remaining in the 4th. #11 Jed Devoltz runs it in for the lead, 18-14 final score. PIRATES WIN!
